NASCENT ROCKERS RAINS TO RELEASE SOPHOMORE EFFORT “FROM THE ASHES” JUNE 17TH
Nascent rockers Rains are set to release their sophomore effort, FROM THE ASHES, on June 17th. The album features the supercharged, melodic hard rock for which the band has come to be known, but this time delves deeper with more personal insight into the mind of lead singer/guitarist/band namesake, Jeff Rains. Look for the band to tour the country in support of FROM THE ASHES around the CD’s release, with exact dates to be announced. The first single from the album, “Betterman,” will soon go for adds at Active Rock radio.
Hailing from a small town in northern Indiana, lead singer/guitarist/band namesake Jeff Rains and company are making a name for themselves the old-fashioned way, with hard work and determination, winning over supporters one at a time with their poignant, emotive, melodic hard rock sound. In true DIY fashion, with no support from a traditional record label, the first single from their self-released debut album STORIES, “Liar,” cracked the Top 15 of Sirius/XM’s Octane channel, causing hard rock music fans to take notice. The second single from the album, “Look In My Eyes,” went on to break into the Top 10 on both Octane and iHeartRadio, while third single. “Pressure,” hit #1 on Octane and broke in to the Top 30 nationwide at Active Rock radio. Of the band and their debut album, Alternative Revolt put it best, “Their music fills the void that we have lived with for so long. It is real, authentic. Above all, it rocks.” Rains has already toured with the likes of Five Finger Death Punch, All That Remains, Hatebreed, Black Stone Cherry, Cavo and more.

Hailing from Chicago’s renowned Wax Trax Records stable of bands, THRILL KILL KULT creators Groovie Mann (lead vocals) andBuzz McCoy (keys/production) have been conjuring up sonic tales of blasphemy, sexcapades and kitschy horror for over 25 years. Their sound is a concoction of experimental, disco, rock, new wave, lounge and glam, interlaced with their signature “sampled dialogue” - a reflection of the duo’s musical influences, and insight into the their taste in cinema. In fact, the original intent was to write and produce a trashy B -movie in the style of John Waters and Russ Meyers. Yet without much film experience and access to video equipment, the project was scrapped, only to be transformed into a musical group of the same name - something both had more expertise in. Groovie(Franke Nardiello) fronted the late 70’s Chicago bands The DT’s andSPECIAL AFFECT, as well as singing for the post-punk British outfitDROWNING CRAZE. Buzz (Marston Daley) attended Berklee College of Music in 1979, but soon realized a formal education in jazz piano was not for him. He picked up the guitar, and began performing with a variety of “art-punk” type groups in the Boston music scene before relocating to Chicago in 1987.
The early years of TKK were spent touring extensively with an entourage of musicians, performance artists, and a back-up trio of voluptuous, singers/dancers dubbed the BOMB GANG GIRLZ. The shows had a “Cabaret From Hell” vibe, arousing the curiosity of the kids and the media, establishing the group as one of America’s premier “industrial-dance” acts.
The band’s popularity among the underground club scene was fueled by hard-hitting dance tracks with titles like Kooler Than Jesus, Do You Fear For Your Child, A Girl Doesn’t Get Killed By A Make-Believe Lover Cuz It’s Hot (featuring punk poet chanteuse Lydia Lunch), and A Daisy Chain 4 Satan. The Parents Music Resource Center(PMRC) was appalled.
Their third album SEXPLOSION (1991) spawned the chart-topping radio savvy song Sex On Wheelz, which quickly gained the attention of the major labels, and the band signed to Interscope Records in 1992. Like all of their releases, the album had an overpowering cinematic quality, so it wasn’t surprising when Hollywood also took notice. They found themselves writing for an assortment of soundtracks like Paul Verhoeven’s “Showgirls” and animator Ralph Bakshi’s “Cool World.” In 1994, they stepped in front of the camera for a cameo in the cult classic “The Crow” to perform the song After The Flesh. More recently TKK was written into the story line of the 2013 film “Sexy Evil Genius”. Their music can be heard frequently in movies, television and cable shows, such as HBO’s long running, “Real Sex” series, Showtime’s “Californication”, and last summer’s indie flick “Crazy Eyes”.
But it doesn’t end with studio, film and TV; Groovie and Buzz still take to the road extensively, along with a rotating cast of dubious characters. In 2010 they re-created their role in the “Sextacy Ball Tour” along with Belgium’s rave darlings Lords of Acid. In 2011 they performed at the “Wax Trax Retrospectacle” show in Chicago, with old label mates Front 242 and Revolting Cocks. Joining Groovieand Buzz on this year’s SPOOKY TRICKS Tour will be veteran drummer Justin Bennett, bassist Mimi Star, and guitarist Westin Halvorson. Opening the show will be [DJ] TOXIC RAINBOW. Best known for his genre-breaking DJ sets, ever changing production style, and monthly show on Digitally Imported Electro, DJTR has been inspired by THRILL KILL KULT since the age of 14. In 2012 he won a Beatport.com remix contest re-working the classic TKK club hit “_Kooler Than Jesus_” and recently finished remixes for the band’s new album, as well as mixes for Groovie’s side-projectDARLING KANDIE.
MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT’S sound has always been fearlessly experimental and has become hugely influential to many artists today. They continue to morph and stretch the fabric of music and as we know it, always remaining true to the KULT and true innovators.

'Omega' EP due out April 8, 2014!
Grand Rapids, MI | March 5, 2014 - Grand Rapids based post-hardcore band, Fine Fine Titans, have partnered up with #1 horror site Bloody-Disgusting for the exclusive world premiere of their “Dance of the Omega” music video. The track is off their new EP, ‘Omega’, produced by Erik Ron (Panic at the Disco, Foxy Shazam, Saosin, Chiodos, New Years Day) and set to drop on April 8th. When asked about the inspiration behind the dark video, FFT explained,
"The concept of this video was driven strictly by the lyrics…we wanted to portray a group of people who were physically taken hostage to represent the emotional damage caused by those who held power over them. The animal costumes helped to reflect on the core of the song and hide the faces of the individuals, thus making the characters more elusive."
May 17th - Pyramid Scheme - Grand Rapids, Michigan
Fine Fine Titans are a four-piece female fronted post-hardcore ensemble hailing from the Great Lakes region of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The band originally startedas the brainchild of husband/wife (bassist/vocalist) Evan and Jennifer Bartlett. The couple met in 2007 after Jen’s old band performed in Evan’s hometown of Grand Rapids. Two years and a marriage certificate later they decided to merge their love of music and complimentary creativity to form a new band. They searched for members
and started writing music and playing out, with Fine Fine Titans officially taking shape in December of 2010.
The duo rounded out their sound with the addition of guitarist Dustin Posthuma and drummer Jason Campbell. They began cultivating their signature fervent hard-rock tunes for their 2012 debut EP, ‘Arms’. FFT’s introductory effort and energetic live performance garnered them a loyal following and comparisons to genre inspirers such as Every Time I Die, The Bled, He Is Legend and Letlive. Their meteoric rise in the local music landscape also got them selected for opening slots for Dead Sara,
Emery, Blessthefall, Vanna, Still Remains, Stray From The Path and I See Stars.
The quartet is a force to be reckoned with collectively, but it’s vocalist Jennifer Bartlett who has grabbed the scene by the balls. “On top of sloping the notes she hits into powerful vibratos, she throws in Chino Moreno-esque screams with murderous frantic shrills before breakdowns that make you want to dance AND throw people simultaneously.”
Lyrically Bartlett explains she finds her inspiration in “heartbreak and struggle. I’m driven by the natural energy and chemistry that not only flows through people but also connects us to animals and nature. I’m a dreamer. I’m inspired by change and those who are impassioned enough to make positive strides despite hardships.”
After the successful release of ‘Arms’, Fine Fine Titans went through a member reconfiguration with the exit of Campbell on drums and Luke Pietscher quickly jumping in to fill the vacancy. FFT got to work on their follow up EP, teaming up with producer Erik Ron (Panic at the Disco, Foxy Shazam, Saosin, Chiodos, New Years Day), engineer
Adrian Alvarado, with mastering done by Anthony Lopardo. Members Posthuma and Pietscher made their departure from the group soon after completing the record. Joining the ranks in the winter of 2013/2014 were drummer Joe Smith and guitarist Kris Sosa.
With a full lineup in place and undeniably killer EP on the horizon, Fine Fine Titans are about to shake things up in 2014.
